Born on 20-10-1949. Obtained M.A. in English and LL. B. Degree from Calcutta University. Enrolled as an Advocate in May, 1974 and practised mainly in Criminal, Constitutional and Civil matters in Calcutta High Court. Joined the West Bengal Judicial Service and was posted as Probationary Munsif, Alipore on 23.06.1980. Held various Judicial positions including the post of Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate in Purulia, Darjeeling and Rampurhat. Promoted to the Higher Judicial service on 29.04.1997. Posted as Chief Judicial Magistrate, Malda. Held the post of Joint Secretary, Judicial Department, Government of West Bengal. Became District and Sessions Judge, Nadia on 28.01.2004. Posted as Registrar (Administration) in the High Court, Appellate Side at Calcutta and also acted as Registrar General. Appointed as District and Sessions Judge, Howrah and joined on 15.02.2008. Elevated as Permanent Judge of the High Court of Calcutta on 24.06.2009.
