Born on September 28, 1949.
Passed School Final Examination in 1965 from Tajpur M.N. Roy Institution of Amta P.S. of Howrah district. Obtained B.A. with Honours in English in 1969, LL.B. in 1972, Master Degree in English in 1973, Master Degree in Political Science in 1980 and LL.M in 1984 from The Calcutta University.
Was Registrar of the West Bengal Dental Council, a statutory body under Department of Health and Family Planning, Government of West Bengal from 1974 to 31.08.1977.
Joined West Bengal Civil Service (Judicial) on 1st September, 1977.
Undergone in-service administrative and survey training for seven and half months in 1985 at Administrative Training Institute of the Government of West Bengal at Salt Lake, Kolkata.
Promoted to the West Bengal Higher Judicial Service on 23rd April, 1996 and was posted as Chief Judicial Magistrate, Darjeeling. Thereafter, he held different posts like:-

2. District Judge, Jalpaiguri – 09.12.02 to 17.01.04

He has a literary bent and published one anthology of poem styled as ‘KABARI’ in 1978.
Was elevated to the Bench of the High Court at Calcutta as a permanent Judge on June 24, 2009.
