Was born on 3rd day of September 1949 in a sub-divisional town at Contai in the district of erstwhile Midnapur. School and college education in the said sub-divisional town at Contai. Graduation from the Calcutta University in 1969. Obtained LL.B. degree from the Calcutta University in the year 1973. Was enrolled as an Advocate on 13th March 1975 and practised more than five years as an Advocate in the City Civil and Sessions Court, Calcutta and in the Calcutta High Court in both civil and criminal matters. Joined West Bengal Judicial Service in the year 1980 as Munsif. Worked as Deputy Secretary, Law Department, Government of West Bengal for more than one year. Was promoted to West Bengal Higher Judicial Service in 1998 and was first posted as Additional District & Sessions Judge at Cooch Behar. Thereafter, worked as District & Sessions Judge at Burdwan. Called to the Registry of the High Court at Calcutta in the month of January, 2005. Lastly worked as District & Sessions Judge at Purulia. Was elevated to the Bench of the Calcutta High Court as Judge on 24th June 2009.
