Born on 25.11.1964

The youngest son of former President of Bar Association, Howrah, Late Sukumar Sinha Ray, and Late Urmila Sinha Ray. After obtaining LL.B. degree from the Department of Law, (Hazra Campus),University of Calcutta, he joined the District Judges’ Court, Howrah as an Advocate under the guidance of his father. He obtained LL.M. degree from the University of Calcutta in the year 1994 andranked first in order of merit and was appointed as a Guest Lecturer in the Department of Law, University of Calcutta.

Appeared in the West Bengal Judicial Service Examination, 1995 and stood first in order of merit and joined West Bengal Judicial Service on 10/09/1996 as a Probationary Munsif. His several Articles were published in several law journals including All India Reporter, Criminal Law Journal, Calcutta Law Times, "Nyaya Deep", (the official Journal of NALSA). He is a Certified Arbitrator &Mediator, IIAM, Kerala. He was invited to deliver lectures in the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie, (LBSNAA) in the year 2010.

He is a Trained Mediator having 40 hours' training under Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee, Hon'ble Supreme Court of India. He has recently obtained post graduate diploma in Medical Law and Ethics from National Law School of India University, Bangalore.

He appeared in the Limited Competitive Examination 2010, conducted by the Hon’ble High Court at Calcutta and stood first and was promoted to the cadre of District Judge (Entry Level) on 17.01.2011. His places of posting includes Chief Judicial Magistrate, South 24 Parganas, Alipore, Registrar (Recruitment and Management), High Court, Calcutta, Member-Secretary, Mediation and Conciliation Committee, High Court, Calcutta, District and Sessions Judge, Bankura, Chief Legal Advisor, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Government of West Bengal.
