Born on 13th February, 1952 at Dum Dum. Did his schooling from Don Bosco, Park Circus, Kolkata. Passed B.Sc. with Honours in Chemistry from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata. Did his M.Sc. in Chemistry from Calcutta University and LL.B. also from Calcutta University. Stood First in the WBCS (Judicial) Examination held in 1979 and got his first posting as Munsif at Howrah in 1980. Posted as Chief Judicial Magistrate, Krishnanagar, Nadia upon promotion to the West Bengal Higher Judicial Service in 2000. Became District and Sessions Judge, Malda in 2007 from where he was transferred to the City Civil Court at Calcutta and thereafter to the Registry of this High Court where he was made the Registrar General on 21st June, 2010. Appointed as Permanent Judge of the Calcutta High Court on 9th April, 2012.
