	The Hon'ble Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta Time Period:17-Jul-1997 to 30-Oct-2012 Former Acting Chief Justice	B.Com., LL.B. - Born on 7th May, 1953. Enrolled as an advocate on 21st April, 1981. Practised in the High Court in Civil, Constitutional and Criminal matters, Civil suits and Arbitration matters. Appointed as a permanent Judge of the Calcutta High Court on 17th July, 1997. Assumed charge as the Acting Chief Justice on and from October, 5, 2012.
	The Hon’ble Justice A. K. Mathur Time Period:22-Dec-1999 to 07-Jun-2004 Former Chief Justice	M.A., LL.B.- Born on 7th August, 1943. Enrolled as an Advocate of Rajasthan High Court on 20th October, 1967. Appointed as Assistant Government Advocate and Deputy Government Advocate on 2nd August, 1969 and Additional Government Advocate on 29th June, 1974 and Government Advocate at Jodhpur on 31st January, 1977. Appointed as Additional Advocate General in December, 1981, till elevation as a Judge of the Rajasthan High Court on 13th September, 1985. Also worked as Standing Counsel for Central Government and Standing Counsel for Western Railway, Northern Railway, National Insurance Corporation and Sales Tax Department, Government of Rajasthan. Was a part-time lecturer in the University of Jodhpur and has travelled to the United States of America, England, France, Belgium, Switzerland and Canada. Appointed as Chairman of the Court of Inquiry in the Indian Airlines Boeing Crash in December, 1988, near Ahmedabad. Transferred to Madhya Pradesh High Court and appointed as Acting Chief Justice on 11th October, 1995. Appointed as Chief Justice, Madhya Pradesh High Court w.e.f. 3rd February, 1996. 	The Hon'ble Justice Girish Chandra Gupta Time Period:15-Sep-2000 to 01-Feb-2016 Former Chief Justice	M.A., L.L.B., was born on December 1, 1954. He was enrolled as an Advocate on September 20, 1982 and practised in the Calcutta High Court for the last 17 years in Civil, Constitutional, Company, Arbitration and Commercial matters. He was appointed as a permanent Judge of the Calcutta High Court on September 15, 2000. He was appointed as Acting Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court on August 22, 2016. He has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court on September 21, 2016.
	The Hon'ble Justice Nishita Mhatre Time Period:28-Mar-2001 to 19-Sep-2017 Former Acting Chief Justice	Born on September 20, 1955 Completed schooling from St. Mary’s School Pune. Graduated from Sophia College, Mumbai with Microbiology. Graduated in Law from Government Law College, Mumbai. Enrolled as an Advocate on the rolls of Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa on November 10, 1978. Practised in the Industrial Tribunal and Labour Court, Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal and the High Court at Bombay. Sworn-in as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Judicature at Bombay on March 28, 2001. Became a Permanent Judge of the High Court of Judicature at Bombay on March 21, 2003. Transferred to the High Court at Calcutta (vide, Notification dated December 27, 2011) and was sworn in as a Judge of this Court on January 6, 2012. Passed B.Com. in the year 1976 and LL.B. in the year 1980 – both from the University of Calcutta. Was enrolled as an Advocate on September 22, 1982. Practised in the High Court at Calcutta in Constitutional (all subjects including Labour and Service) and Civil matters. Specialised in Service matters. Also practised in the Central Administrative Tribunal, Calcutta Bench, and West Bengal Administrative Tribunal. Was appointed Junior Standing Counsel for the State of West Bengal on September 17, 1996 and thereafter Additional Government Pleader on January 7, 2002. Was Government Pleader (Acting) with effect from March 2, 2006 in addition to the post of Additional Government Pleader. Was enrolled as an Advocate on July 21, 1989. Practised in the High Court at Calcutta as well as the Supreme Court of India. Also appeared before CESTAT, Eastern Regional Bench. Practised in Constitutional (Customs & Central Excise, FERA, Telecommunication, Education, Service & Income Tax), Arbitration, Company, Revenue, Civil and Criminal matters. Specialised in Revenue, Arbitration and Constitutional Laws. Was Senior Counsel for the Central Government in the High Court at Calcutta. Was also the Hony. 	The Hon'ble Justice Mohit S. Shah Time Period:24-Dec-2009 to 25-Jun-2010 Former Chief Justice	• Born on September 09, 1953 at Vijapur, Gujarat. Son of a District & Sessions Judge. • Did his schooling at Baroda, Surat and Amreli. Pursued his higher education at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda from where obtained the Degree of Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with First Class and First rank with Aurobindo Prize. • In 1976, secured the Gold Medal at the LL.B. (Special) Examination for securing first rank with first class marks. • Started his practice in the Gujarat High Court in 1976. Made rapid strides in Constitutional, Civil and Corporate Law matters including cases under the patent laws. Was Standing Counsel for many Boards and Corporations. • Even during busy practice, did not ignore academic pursuits. After obtaining LL.M. 	The Hon’ble Justice Jainarayan Patel Time Period:26-Jun-2010 to 04-Oct-2012 Former Chief Justice	M.A.,LL.B. - Born on 05-10-1950. He was enrolled as an Advocate on 27-08-1974. He practised for 12 years in Civil, Criminal and Constitutional matters in the District and the High Court Bench at Nagpur. He was contributory teacher in University College of Law. He was appointed as a Judge of the City Civil Court on 20-04-1987. He was appointed as Designated Judge to try cases under TADA (P) Act 1987 at Mumbai from 1992-1993. In 1993 appointed Designated Judge of the Special Court constituted to try Bombay Bomb Blast case. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court on 11-03-1996 and permanent Judge on 07-01-1997. Assumed office of the Chief Justice of the High Court at Calcutta w.e.f. 26.06.2010.
	The Hon'ble Justice Arun Mishra Time Period:14-Dec-2012 to 06-Jul-2014 Former Chief Justice	Born on September 03, 1955. His father Late Justice Hargovind Mishra was also a Judge of M.P.High Court. Completed Graduation in Science and also obtained M.A.Degree and Degree in law simultaneously. Practised from 1978 to October 1999 in Constitutional, Civil, Industrial, Criminal and Service Matters in the Bench of High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Gwalior. He worked as part time lecturer in Law during 1986 to 1993 and was a Member of Faculty of Law of Jiwaji University, Gwalior from 1991 to 1996. Was a member of Academic Council of Government M.L.B. Arts and Commerce Autonomous College, Gwalior from 1996 to 1998. Youngest Chairman Bar Council of India as of 15.05 1998- till elevation as Judge of M.P. High Court. Prior to that, he was Vice-Chairman of B.C.I. In 1989 and 1995, was elected Member of State Bar Council of Madhya Pradesh with highest votes, which is record till today and Vice-Chairman of State Bar Council of Madhya Pradesh from 1992 to 1995. Was Chairman of Advocates’ Welfare Committee of Bar Council of India from 1996 to 1999 and enhanced amount of Medical Aid to needy lawyers. During his Chairmanship, Bar Council of India decided to close the evening Law Colleges and also decided that 5 years Law Course should be started instead of 3 years Course in all the colleges. He was Co-Chairman of All India Meet of Development of Law Course which was implemented from 1998-1999 for 3 years and 5 years course which is prevailing till today as integrated Course. More than two Hundred Sub-standard Law Colleges were closed down through out India when he was Chairman of Bar Council of India. 	The Hon'ble Justice Dr. Manjula Chellur Time Period:05-Aug-2014 to 21-Aug-2016 Former Chief Justice	Born on 05.12.1955 at Bellary as daughter of Shri C. Bheemappa Chetty and Smt. Rangamma. After completing B.A. Degree from Allum Sumangalamma Womens’ College, Bellary, joined Renukacharya Law College, Bangalore and obtained LL.B Degree in the year 1977. Had an opportunity to visit the Crown Court at Hurham, U.K. during her stay in England for about one year. Enrolled as an Advocate on 11.08.1978. She was the first lady advocate to practice at Bellary. Served as legal advisor for several Banks, Agro Industries, KEB, KMF & APMC. Handled several important cases both on civil and criminal sides. Joined Karnataka Judicial Service as District Judge on 15.04.1988. Got fellowship on Gender and Law in 1997 at Warwick University in England. Appointed as Additional Judge of the High Court of Karnataka (first Lady Judge) on 21.02.2000 and permanent Judge on 17.08.2000. She was the President of the Karnataka Judicial Academy from 21.06.2008 to 25.03.2010. She was also the Executive Chairperson of the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority. As Executive Chairperson, she had worked for the welfare of transgenders and arranged seminars throughout the State. On transfer to the Kerala High Court, assumed charge as Acting Chief Justice on 09.11.2011. Became Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court on 26.09.2012. In recognition of the outstanding contributions in the field of law the Karnataka State Womens’ University, Bijapur honoured her with a degree of Doctor of Law (Honoris Causa) at the fourth annual convocation held on 3rd March, 2013 at Bijapur. Took charge as Chief Justice, High Court at Calcutta on 05/08/2014.
	The Hon'ble Justice Thottathil B. Nair Radhakrishnan Time Period:04-Apr-2019 to 28-Apr-2021 Former Chief Justice	Hon'ble Mr. Justice Thottathil B. Nair Radhakrishnan Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan was sworn-in as permanent Judge of the High Court of Kerala on 14th October, 2004. He is the son of late N. Bhaskaran Nair and late K. Parukutty Amma, both Advocates, who practised at Kollam. Born on 29th April, 1959, he had his early schooling in St. Joseph's Convent and Government Boys' High School, Kollam; Arya Central School, Thiruvananthapuram and secured ISC conferred by the University of Cambridge (Local Examination Syndicate), having studied in Trinity Lyceum, Kollam. After obtaining B.Sc. Degree in Zoology from University of Kerala as a student of the Fatima Matha National College, Kollam, he secured LL.B. Degree from Bangalore University having studied Law in K.G.F. Law College, Kolar Gold Fields. Enrolled on 11th December, 1983, he practised at Thiruvananthapuram as junior to Advocate late P. Ramakrishna Pillai and thereafter shifted to High Court of Kerala in 1988 as junior to Senior Advocate late P. Sukumaran Nayar. He dealt with cases in different branches of law, the areas of his prominent practice being Civil, Constitutional and Administrative Law. He appeared also for various institutions including banks, university and other public institutions. He also appeared for the High Court of Kerala. He was appointed as amicus curiae in different matters and was Advocate-Member of the Rule Committee constituted under Section 123 of the Code of Civil Procedure. While an Advocate, he was invited as Resource Person by the Training Directorate which later became the Kerala Judicial Academy. He also addressed various programmes of Legal Services Authority and training programmes for Advocates. As Judge, he was nominated by the Hon'ble the Chief Justice to deal with original petitions registered following directions of the Supreme Court in relation to mental health matters. He was the President of the Board of Governors of the Kerala State mediation and Conciliation Centre and the President of the Kerala Judicial Academy. On various occasions, he was invited as Resource Person to the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal and the Kerala Judicial Academy. He had also attended various national conferences on different subjects of critical importance. He was the Executive Chairman of the Kerala State Legal Services Authority, the Executive Chairman of the Lakshadweep State Legal Services Authority, the Chairman of the Law Reporting Council, I.L.R. He was the Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court from 18.3.2017 to 6.7.2018. He was the Chancellor of the Hidayatullah National Law University, Naya Raipur, Chhattishgarh. He was sworn in as Chief Justice of the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on 7.7.2018. He was the Chancellor of the National Academy for Legal Studies and Research (NALSR), University of Law, Hyderabad and the Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University, Visakhapatnam. He was the Patron-in-Chief of the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States Legal Services Authority. He was the Chief Patron of the A.P. Judicial Academy, Secunderabad. He was sworn-in as the Chief Justice of the High Court for the State of Telangana on 1.1.2019. He was the Patron-in-Chief of the Telangana State Legal Services Authority. He was the Chief Patron of the Telangana State Judicial Academy, Secunderabad. He continued to be the Chancellor of NALSR, University of Law, Hyderabad. He has sworn in as Chief Justice of the High Court at Calcutta on 04.04.2019.
	The Hon'ble Justice Rajesh Bindal Time Period:05-Jan-2021 to 10-Oct-2021 Former Chief Justice (Acting)	Justice Rajesh Bindal was born on 16th April, 1961 at Ambala City in the State of Haryana (India). He did LL.B. from Kurukshetra University in 1985 and joined profession in High Court of Punjab & Haryana in September 1985. He represented Chandigarh Administration before Central Administrative Tribunal for more than a decade till 2004. He represented Punjab & Haryana regions of Employees Provident Fund Organization before the High Court and Central Administrative Tribunal from 1992 till his elevation. He remained associated, on behalf of State of Haryana, in settlement of the dispute concerning Satluj Yamuna Water with State of Punjab before Hon’ble Eradi Tribunal and Hon’ble the Supreme Court. He represented Income-tax Department, Haryana region before the High Court. He was elevated as a Judge of High Court of Punjab & Haryana on March 22, 2006. He remained Chairman of the Committee constituted pursuant to Resolution No. 7 adopted in the Chief Justices’ Conference, 2016 for framing Draft Rules for Electronic Evidence and submitted his report to Hon’ble the Supreme Court in November 2018. Being Chairman of a multi-member Committee constituted by Ministry of Women and Child Development to study Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction Bill, 2016, he submitted report accompanied by the recommendations and draft of the Protection of Children (Inter-Country Removal and Retention) Bill, 2018 to the Ministry in April 2018. Before his transfer to High Court of Jammu and Kashmir, he was heading various Committees including Computer Committee, Arrears Committee. On transfer to High Court of Jammu and Kashmir, he took oath of office on 19th November, 2018. Before his transfer to High Court at Calcutta he was the Chairman of the Finance Committee, Building and Infrastructure Committee, Information Technology Committee, State Court Management Systems Committee in the High Court and also Chairman of J&K State Legal Service Authority. He was also the Chairman of the Committee constituted for conducting assessment for optimal use of technology by NALSA and the State Legal Services Authorities including use of Artificial Intelligence. He was also Member of the Committee constituted to go into the existing framework of Lok Adalats and Mediation and to suggest ways for enhancing operational efficiency and plugging gaps, if any, or better application of these ADR mechanisms for weaker sections of the society. Appointed as Acting Chief Justice of the Common High Court for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh vide Notification No. K.11019/07/2020-US.II dated 8th December,2020. Transferred as a Judge of the High Court at Calcutta vide Notification No. K. 13015/06/2020-US.I dated 31st December,2020 and was sworn in as a Judge of the High Court at Calcutta on January 5, 2021. Appointed to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of the High Court at Calcutta with effect from 29th April, 2021 vide Notification No. K-11019/04/2021-US.II dated 27.04.2021
	The Hon’ble Justice Prakash Shrivastava Time Period:11-Oct-2021 to 30-Mar-2023 Former Chief Justice	Born on March 31, 1961. Enrolled as Advocate on February 2, 1987. Practised on Tax, Civil and Constitutional sides in the Supreme Court of India at New Delhi. Appointed as Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh on January 18, 2008 and Permanent Judge on January 15, 2010. His Lordship has been sworn in as the Chief Justice of High Court at Calcutta on 11th October, 2021.
